From all of us at the 104 Roller Hockey League, have a wonderful and safe holiday! Remember, there are no games next weekend; we will return on January 4 and 5.
Due to the rainouts and recent tournament, the raffle was postponed from this past weekend and will be drawn on 1/5/03. If you haven’t submitted your stubs yet, you still have time to do so. We would also like to thank Santa’s elves Marie and Butch Broderick, Vicky and Riss Gargano along with Kenny Backmann, Richie Adams and the crew at Brewery Keenan Heisser Post #1815 for hosting our Mite Christmas party.
Mite Division

The 104 Roller Hockey League held its 2002 Christmas Party for the Mite Division at the Keenan Heisser American Legion Post 1815. The group was visited by Santa Claus at the event.

On 12/21, the State Farm Insurance–Pat Cawley Agency Maple Leafs forfeited to the Ducks 1-0.
Bantam Division
The Schwille Funeral Home Panthers blanked the Sgt. R. Miller Post Bruins 8-0. Stephen Kull (5) and Nick Vukan (3) provided the Panther scoring, while Mike Juszczak recorded his 4th shutout the year. A scoring correction: a goal previously credited to Bruin Danny Pizzulli was actually by Chris Prosser.
The Maspeth Federal Savings Bank Sharks devoured the Kappauf Insurance Flyers 9-2. Eric Evangelista, Mike Stefan, and Bantam Player of the Week Joe Plonski each had a pair for the Sharks with single tallies by Justin Tableman, Mark Anastasio, and Matt Burton. Chris McEvoy and Jeff Durante scored for the Flyers.
Junior Division
In a make-up game on 12/10 in the Commerford Trophy Junior Division, the Gelobters Sporting Goods Kings edged the Ridgewood Savings Bank Maple Leafs 4-3. Joe Finocchiaro had the hat trick for the Kings with help from Jaime Spataro. Kevin McAuley (2) and Greg Kubrak scored for the Leafs.
On 12/12, the Joseph B. Garity Post Sharks defeated the GCOP Sabres 3-2. Mike Vertuccio, Nico Siracusa and Justin Vaillant had the Shark goals, while Junior Player of the Week Ed Finegan scored twice for the Sabres.
In the regular Saturday game, the Sharks and the Leafs knotted at 3-3. The Shark goal scorers included Chris Furman, Mike Vertuccio and Junior Player of the Week Nico Siracusa, while Sergey Shumilin, Doug Glendenning and Steve Drizis scored for the Leafs.
Senior Division
The Glendale Kiwanis Devils pounded the Queensboro Lodge #892 Sharks 12-1. Anthony Salvo and Shawn Buesing each had a hat trick for the Devils with Lenny Kovacs (2), Johnnie DelRios, Denis Grigoryan, Kevin Kaferstein and Chris Murray adding the rest. Luis Perez had the lone Shark goal.
The Frank Kowalanski Post 4 Stars ripped the Knights of Columbus—Chapter 1814 Rangers 10-0. Joe Mikoleski and Senior Player of the Week Dan Gearity each had a hat trick for the Stars with Jay Andjelovic (2), Nick Begy and Lenny Sher providing the others. Jeremy Siracusa picked up his third shutout of the year.
