| Task Force Set For Queens Village Boost P.O. Presence In 105th Pct. NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has decided to move the Patrol Borough Queens Task Force out of Fresh Meadows after the citys lease with its current space expires. Congressman Anthony Weiner has asked Commissioner Kelly to reconsider the move because while its primary responsibilities involve city-wide disorder control, the PBQTF has an important secondary benefit for Fresh Meadows: The security of an increased police presence. PBQTF has been located at 186-01 73rd Avenue since 1993. In 2004, the citys lease with the building that houses the Task Force will be up. Commissioner Kelly wants to boost police presence in the 105th Precinct in Queens Village by moving the Task Force there. Weiner has asked Kelly to renew the Fresh Meadows lease, and keep the Task Force where is is. While the Task Force does not actively patrol Fresh Meadows, it provides a needed service to the community by ensuring that there is a continuos police presence, said Weiner, whose district includes parts of Ridgewood and Middle Village. As my grandmother used to say, If it aint broke, dont fix it. |
