EVELYN GIORDANO of Maspeth died on January 22, 2010 at the age of 83. She was the devoted mother of Gary, mother-in-law of Donna and fond grandmother of Justine and Jordan. Rev. Philip Hardt will lead a funeral service today, January 28, at 10 a.m. at Village Chapels, 67-67 Eliot Avenue, Middle Village, to be followed by interment in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of George Schwille.

She was the beloved wife of Marciano, devoted mother of Vanessa Guce and Michelle Estrella, mother-in-law of Jayson and loving daughter of Juanita Laugo. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Ascension Church on Saturday, January 30, to be followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ JEROME T. BONSER of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Ridgewood, died on Janauary 11, 2010 at the age of 64. He was the beloved husband of Lana, devoted father of Jerry of Cuddebackville, New York, Keith of Tucson, Arizona, and Kenny of Phoenix; dear brother of Judy Leuci, Mary McNulty and the late Rita Ward; and fond grandfather of Danielle, Scott, Jackson and Charlotte Bonser. He worked in the steel and printing industries and was an avid golfer. Services were held in Resthaven Park Mortuary in Phoenix.

+++ GUENTER K. STRIESE of Glendale died on January 23, 2010 at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Ella, devoted father of Jim and father in-law of Eileen. A private cremation was held at Fresh Pond Crematory under the direction of the Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale. A memorial dinner will be held on a date to be announced.

A native of Sekitsch, Yugoslavia, she was the beloved wife of the late Jakob and devoted mother of Jakob Diel and Elisabeth Roth; also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Services were officiated by Rev. Thomas Goodhart at the Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, followed by interment in Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was the beloved fiancé of Jamie, loving son of James and the late Sandra, dear brother of Doug Russell, brother-in-law of Beth, fond uncle of Brendan, Tyler and Spencer and caring nephew of JoAnn and John. He was the husband of the late Marianna G., devoted father of Julius Laino and Louise Kuefner, father-in-law of Kathleen and Joseph, dear brother of Mary Ann Yandoli, and fond grandfather of Ashley, Joseph, Kristina, Cassandra and Kailey; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. A native of Ridgewood, he was the husband of the late Doris, devoted father of Linda Schantz and Edward, fatherin law of Vicky, dear brother of Arline Collins and Raymond Theis, and fond grandmother of Dawn Soares, Brian Schantz and Jason and Nicole Theis; also survived by great-grandchildren Lainey, Zackery, Hailey and Rhianna. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy and the Rheinland, and a member of VFW Post No. 123, the Garity Post, AARP and ROAC Bingo Caller #49. Services were officiated by Rev.
