Author’s A Hit In Holding
Court With Ridgewood Students
The 49 students who are active in the Law Club at Ridgewood’s P.S. 88 recently welcomed Joshua Prager (seated at center in foreground), a senior special writer at The Wall Street Journal and author of The Echoing Green. The book presents “the untold story” of Bobby Thomson’s legendary home run off a pitch from Ralph Branca that gave the 1951 New York Giants a dramatic victory, along with the National League pennant, over the Brooklyn Dodgers. Prager discussed his work on the book and fielded questions from the fourth and fifth graders, who will take part on Friday, May 9 in a moot court at the school that presents arguments on whether or not the Giants went too far in stealing signals from the Giants, resulting in “The Shot Heard ’Round the World.” As shown, many wore team caps of the side they favor. Pictured with the students and their guest speaker are (standing in rear) P.S. 88 teachers and Law Club advisors Gary Mintz and Maureen Wolf. (photo: J. Naughton)
