Chemical Scare Prompts FDNY Action


Firefighters responded to a Glendale home last Wednesday morning, June 18 after receiving reports of fumes emanating from five containers of an unidentified chemical stored in the basement. The incident, according to FDNY sources, took place at about 11:55 a.m. in the area of 82nd and Myrtle avenues. Members of Engine companies 319 and 294, Ladder Company 143 and Batallion 51 responded to the incident, along with an FDNY Hazmat unit. No injuries were reported, said FDNY sources.
