NOTE GETS HIM DOUGH ON THE GO
Bandit Scares His Way To Bank Cash
Using a threatening note to withdraw cash from a bank reportedly paid off for the crook behind a heist in Middle Village last Friday morning, Sept. 5. Law enforcement sources said the robbery occurred at the Cross County Federal Savings Bank branch located at 80-10 Eliot Ave. The suspect—described by police as a caucasian male standing 5'10" tall with a reddish-colored moustache and wearing a black hat, black shirt and blue jeans—remains at large as of press time. According to police, the caper took place at around 10:30 a.m. Friday, when the bandit entered the branch and approached a teller. Upon arriving at the counter, law enforcement sources said, the perpetrator handed the employee a note containing threats as well as a demand for cash. Police later determined that the crook was unarmed at the time of the heist. Reportedly, the teller handed over $2,000 in currency to the suspect, who then fled from the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the location. No injuries were reported. Members of the precinct and various NYPD personnel conducted a canvass of the surrounding area for the bandit following the heist. Despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made. The case has been presented to the NYPD Major Case Squad for further investigation, police said. Anyone with any information regarding the heist that could prove helpful is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or send a text message with the code "TIP577" to 274637. All calls and messages will be kept confidential.
