Suspect Slays Man To End Dispute
After being confronted by his girlfriend at his Brooklyn home, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by another male who became involved in the dispute last Saturday night, Sept. 20, law enforcement sources reported. The victim was identified by police as 27-year-old Bernard Wannamaker of Weirfield Street in Bushwick. Law enforcement sources said the trouble began just before 7:50 p.m. Saturday night in front of the victim's home on Weirfield Street near Evergreen Avenue. Reportedly, the man was confronted at the location by a woman later determined to have been his girlfriend and became embroiled with her in a verbal dispute. During the argument, police said, another man became involved and then stabbed Wannamaker twice in his torso before fleeing from the scene along with the woman. Members of the 83rd Precinct responded to the scene along with emergency medical technicians after receiving 911 calls regarding the incident. Wannamaker was transported by paramedics to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. At press time, law enforcement sources said, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
