CK Soccer Kicks Year Off On The Right Track On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Christ the King boys' varsity soccer faced Monsignor McClancy for their first match of the 2008 season. As the draw would be a better result, the Royals got the win due to a very good goalkeeping by senior Mike Przybekm who was able to stop few good shots placed by Crusaders' strong midfield and forward players. Fellow freshman John Favara opened the scoring for Christ the King early in the first half, but McClancy equalized in the final minute of a dominating first half on a goal by Jeremy Alissandrdos. Anthony Ciorciari headed in a corner kick in the 47th minute as the Royals regained the lead, but two minutes later the Crusaders tied the game again when Alexis Escobar found the back of the net. Freshman Peyton Atteloney picked a perfect time to score his first career high-school goal, breaking a 2-2 draw with the game-winning goal midway through the second half to lift the Christ the King boys' soccer team to a 3-2 win against visitors Monsignor McClancy in a CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens 'B' clash. In the second game of the week, the Royals defeated St. Edmunds High School by a score of 9- 1. Goals were scored by Lukasz Prawdzik (3), Mike Favara, John Favara, Adam Baran, Chris Munoz, Steven Subasic, and Sal Russo.
