He's Shot, Run Over In Corona
Seek Suspect Behind Fatal Gunfire
Police are searching for the suspects responsible for the shooting of a Corona man who died last Wednesday, Nov. 12 after being struck by a vehicle along a neighborhood street, it was reported. The victim was identified by police as Mario Rei, 31, of 43rd Avenue in Corona. According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. in front of a location on 98th Street near 50th Avenue. Members of the 110th Precinct responded to the scene after receiving calls of a pedestrian struck at the location. Upon their arrival, police said, Rei was found unconscious and lying in the middle of the street. Emergency medical technicians were called to the location and, while providing treatment, discovered that the victim had also been shot twice in the chest. Rei was transported by para- medics to St. John's Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The investigation is ongoing, police said. As of press time, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
