TRASH FIRE ON TRACKS


Construction debris stored inside a pair of rail cars reportedly caught fire while stationed along the CSX railroad tracks in Middle Village last Wednesday morning, Nov. 12. Fire Department sources said the rubbish blaze broke out at around 11:50 a.m. on the line next to Christ the King Regional High School at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave. Members of Engine companies 291 and 319, Ladder companies 135 and 140 and Battalion 28 responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, and the nearby high school was not evacuated as a result of the incident.
