Honor Cop For Catching Crook In Richmond Hill


For his efforts to collar a suspect who recently swiped a cell phone from a victim along a Richmond Hill street, P.O. George Scott of the 106th Precinct was honored as Cop of the Month during the command's Community Council meeting last Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Ozone Park stationhouse. According to police, the holdup occurred at around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, Oct. 11 in the vicinity of 103rd Avenue and 121st Street. While on patrol in the area of Lefferts Boulevard and Liberty Avenue, it was reported, the officer was informed of the holdup and, after obtaining descriptions, canvassed the area for the suspects. A short time later, authorities noted, Scott located one of the perpetrators and took him into custody following a brief pursuit. During last Wednesday's meeting, the precinct's commanding officer, Deputy Inspector Joseph Courtesis, presented Officer Scott with a plaque donated by the Times Newsweekly.
