Bottom row (left to right): Taylor Abbruzzesse, Madden McDonagh, Danielle Sheridan and Emily Marczak On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Our Lady of Hope seventh grade girls' soccer team, the Hope Hornets, played an astounding game against St. Frances DeSales at Juniper Valley Park.

It was unsure if the Championship game would be played due to the inclement weather, but CYO Officials were able to move the game from the soaked, mud puddled field to a more accommodating Brennan Field.

As the game began, players as well as spectators were bursting with anticipation. The girls played a physically hard game with many chances to score. Offensively, Hope charged DeSales' net with the wind on their side. Lauren Viggiano was able to get the deflection off of the DeSales defender to score the first goal. Defensively, the Hope team was impenetrable. At the end of the first half, Hope Hornets were leading 1-0.

The second half of the game proved to be equally as physical with DeSales trying desperately to score the tying goal. Defenders Taylor Abbruzzesse, Emily Marczak, Nikki Morales and Rebecca Wagner held the DeSales girls at bay. Hope's mid fielders passed the ball nicely through to their teammates.

With only seconds left in the game, Olivia McFadden added another goal to her already impressive yearly stats and Hope Hornets defeated DeSales with a score of 2-0.

All in all, these girls played outstanding and proved to themselves as well as to their fantastic coaches, Toni Cimino and Larry Viggiano Jr.
