Armed Men On A Spree Of Stickups

Thieves Swipe Dough At Convenience Mart
by Robert Pozarycki

Gun-toting bandits who allegedly held up a Glendale convenience store early on Monday morning, Nov. 24 may also be responsible for two other stickups that occurred elsewhere in Queens a short time later, police reported.

All three locations were 7- Eleven stores, law enforcement sources said.

Reportedly, the armed gunmen took cash at gunpoint and assaulted a worker inside the 7-Eleven shop at 69-20 Myrtle Avenue at around 2:55 a.m. Monday morning.

The two suspects were described by police as African-American males wearing white bandanas and ski masks. One of the crooks is believed to stand 5'9" tall and was last observed wearing a black jacket and blue jeans while carrying a handgun.

Authorities noted that an investigation is ongoing to determine a possible link between the two perpetrators and two other robberies of 7-Eleven locations in Eastern Queens later on Monday morning.

Reportedly, armed suspects held up a 7-Eleven store at the intersection of 46th Avenue and 162nd Street in Flushing at around 4:10 a.m.

Nearly 20 minutes later, as noted in published reports, crooks came calling to the convenience mart located at 58-32 Francis Lewis Blvd. in Oakland Gardens.

According to law enforcement sources, the Glendale robbery occurred at around 2:55 a.m. inside the 7-Eleven store at 69-20 Myrtle Ave.

Reportedly, the two suspects entered the location, where two employees worked and three customers shopped at the time.

Police said one of the perpetrators displayed a firearm and ordered the workers and customers to lie down on the floor. While they complied with his demands, it was reported, the gunman punched a male worker in the head.

As the suspect held the civilians at gunpoint, law enforcement sources noted, his cohort allegedly removed a sum of cash from the register as well as $60 from one of the customer's pockets.

The pair reportedly fled from the scene on foot and were observed heading eastbound on Myrtle Avenue.

Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. No serious injuries were reported.

Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the suspects involved in the caper. No immediate arrests were made despite their efforts, it was noted.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Queens Robbery Squad, police said.

Anyone with any information regarding the case that could prove helpful is asked to call the 104th Precinct Detective Squad at 1-718- 386-2735 or Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-577-TIPS. Cell phone users may also send a text message to Crime Stoppers to 274637, followed by TIP577.
