A Renaissance In Ridgewood

Con Edison's Renaissance Housing Program celebrated the completion of another housing project with a ribbon cutting on the front steps of the building at 1865 Linden St. in Ridgewood last Tuesday, Nov. 18. Thanks to a rehabilitation by the contractor, Hudson Maintenance Corporation, what had been a long-vacant tenement was turned into spacious two and three-bedroom condominiums, said Paul Kerzner, who heads the Renaissance Housing Program. The First National Bank of Long Island will be providing the condo mortgages and the Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation was the non-profit sponsor. As noted, the project marks Ridgewood's first "green" building renovation, with the latest energy-saving materials and equipment. Among those on hand to join with Con Edison officials such as Tom Newell, vice president for Brooklyn/Queens electric operations, and Carol Conslato, director of Queens public affairs, were City Council Member Diana Reyna, City Council Member-elect Elizabeth Crowley, Community Board 5 District Manager Gary Giordano and GRRC Executive Director Angela Mirabile.
