Five-Alarm Blaze Scorches Factory
Ten firefighters and five workers at an Astoria cabinet factory were hospitalized after being injured during a five-alarm fire at the location last Saturday, Nov. 22, it was reported. According to FDNY sources, the inferno started at around 11:20 a.m. at the factory located on 37th Avenue near 31st Street. Reportedly, the flames broke out inside the first floor and then spread to other levels. More than 55 FDNY units were called to the scene along with the 114th Precinct and EMS units. The injured firefighters and victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
