Bandit Had A Note To Grab Bucks From A Bank In L.I.C.
Look For Crook In Morning Heist
Making a withdrawal with a threatening note allowed a crook to cash in during a holdup of a Long Island City bank last Thursday morning, Dec. 11, it was reported. Police said the heist occurred at the Capital One Bank branch located at 44-04 21st St. The suspect in the caper— described by authorities as an African-American male believed to be 30 years old, standing at 5'8" tall with a dark complexion and a black mustache—remains at large at press time. Reportedly, he was last observed wearing a light blue denim jacket, green slacks and white sneakers. Law enforcement sources said the robbery took place at around 8:40 a.m., when the suspect entered the branch and approached a teller. Upon arriving at the counter, police stated, the perpetrator handed the employee a note demanding cash. The teller reportedly handed an undetermined amount of money to the crook, who then fled from the scene in an unknown direction. It was later determined by police that no weapons were displayed during the robbery. Members of the 108th Precinct responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Various police units canvassed the surrounding area in search of the suspect. Despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the NYPD Major Case Squad, police said.
