THEIR ROB RUN ENDS
Cops Cuff A Trio Of Crooks Behind Armed Heist Pattern
Detectives probing a series of armed robberies of gas stations and convenience stores in Queens arrested four men last Wednesday, Dec. 10 who allegedly carried out the pattern of stickups together, it was reported. The suspects were identified by police as Jamal Diaz, 21, and Alexander Joseph, 22, both residents of Rogers Avenue in Flatbush; Darnell Johnson, 24, of Horace Harding Expressway in Kew Gardens Hills and Desmond McNeil, 22, of Hawthorne Street in Crown Heights. The quartet of alleged crooks were booked on first-degree robbery charges last Wednesday by the Queens Robbery Squad at the 109th Precinct in Flushing for their roles in nine armed stickups across Queens during early morning hours between Nov. 4 and Dec. 1. Locally, the suspects hit convenience stores and gas stations located in Corona, Forest Hills, Glendale, Jackson Heights and Woodhaven. At press time, an investigation into similar stickups in Brooklyn and other parts of Queens is ongoing. In each of the cases, according to information provided by the Queens District Attorney's office, Joseph and either Diaz or McNeil went into each location brandishing firearms and removed cash from the register and other property from the victims. Reportedly, Johnson drove the suspects to and from several of the targeted stores. During one of the stickups, which occurred at the 7-Eleven at 69-20 Myrtle Ave. in Glendale on Nov. 24, Joseph and Diaz entered the convenience mart and ordered two workers and two customers to lie down on the floor. After the duo removed cash from the register, law enforcement sources said, Diaz allegedly punched a male employee in the face and removed property from him. He and his cohort then fled from the scene. In addition to the Glendale robbery, prosecutors said, the four suspects were booked in connection with armed robberies at the following Queens locations: • a BP gas station located at 130- 11 North Conduit Ave. in South Ozone Park at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4; • a convenience store located at 85-01 Jamaica Ave. in Woodhaven at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20; • a 7-Eleven store located at 103- 01 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20; • a gas station located at 174-02 Horace Harding Expwy. in Fresh Meadows at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20; • a 7-Eleven store located at 79- 01 Northern Blvd. in Jackson Heights at 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22; • a 7-Eleven store located at 162- 05 46th Ave. in Flushing at 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24; • a 7-Eleven store located at 58- 12 Francis Lewis Blvd. in Oakland Gardens at 4:10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24; and, • a 7-Eleven store/BP gas station located at 99-49 Horace Harding Expwy. in Corona at 4:35 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. Diaz, Joseph, Johnson and McNeil were arrested by Det. All four suspects were arraigned last Friday, Dec. 12 in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Toko Serita and were each ordered held in custody on $200,000 bond or $100,000 cash.
