OVERCOME BY SMOKE

(photos: Allen Epstein)(photos: Allen Epstein)An elderly man from Ridgewood suffered serious injuries after his home caught fire on Monday afternoon, Dec. 15, according to Fire Department sources. Reportedly, the one-alarm blaze broke out at around 4:35 p.m. inside the one-story residence on 60th Lane behind a home at the corner of 68th Avenue. Members of Engine companies 218, 277, 286 and 291; Ladder companies 112, 135 and 140; Squad Company 252; Rescue 4 and Battalions 28 and 37—under the direction of Division 14— responded to the scene along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. The injured male was brought by paramedics to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. Using two hose lines, an FDNY source said, firefighters brought the blaze under control at around 5 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, it was noted.
