Apt. Damaged In Bed-Stuy Blaze
(photo: Allen Epstein) Smoke billows from the top floor of an apartment house that caught fire in Bedford-Stuyvesant last Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13. According to Fire Department sources, the one-alarm blaze started at around 2:50 p.m. on the second floor of the home on Gates Avenue near Throop Avenue. Members of Engine companies 214, 217, 222 and 235; Ladder companies 102, 108 and 111; Squad Company 252; Rescue 2 and Battalions 37 and 57 responded to the scene under the direction of Division 11. Using two hose lines, an FDNY source said, the blaze was brought under control at around 3:30 p.m.
