Cuff Oz. Pk. Man In Deadly Pkwy. Crash
Victim Ejected From His Sedan
Racing another car on the Grand Central Parkway proved costly for an Ozone Park man booked on homicide charges after his sedan overturned and killed a friend riding with him early on Monday morning, Dec. 15, it was reported. According to the Queens District Attorney's office 20-year-old Armish Singh of Pitkin Avenue was arrested by police for his role in the death of 18-year-old Tariq Aslim of Queens Village. Police said the crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. along the eastbound parkway near 188th Street in Hollis. Reportedly, Singh was behind the wheel of a 2005 Nissan Altima with Aslim joining him as a passenger that was traveling with another vehicle eastbound at a high rate of speed. Based on information obtained by law enforcement sources, it was determined that the vehicles— which appeared to be driving side by side—were traveling at 100 miles per hour, double the speed limit posted for the area. As Singh's vehicle approached a bend in the roadway, it was reported, the Nissan lost control swerved to the shoulder and overturned. The force of the accident caused Aslim to be ejected from the vehicle, police said. Members of the 107th Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units and the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad. Aslim was pronounced dead at the scene. Singh was taken into custody at the scene and charged with criminally negligent homicide, law enforcement sources said. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad, police said.
