Firefighters, Bus Riders Injured In Bklyn. Crash

(photos: Joseph Epstein)(photos: Joseph Epstein)Over 18 passengers and the driver of a B15 bus were reportedly injured after colliding with Ladder Company 103's firetruck at an East New York intersection on Tuesday morning, Dec. 16. The six firefighters on board the truck were hospitalized in serious condition, said an FDNY spokesperson. Reportedly, the collision occurred at around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Stone and New Lots avenues. According to Fire Department sources, the bus crashed into the firetruck and was then pushed onto the sidewalk. Numerous FDNY and EMS units responded to the scene along with officers from the 73rd Precinct. Emergency personnel reportedly used the Hurst tool, also known as the "jaws of life," to remove two firefighters trapped in their damaged truck.
