Flames Burn Man In Bushwick Home

(photo: Allen Epstein)(photo: Allen Epstein)One man suffered burns to his legs during a one-alarm blaze inside a Bushwick residence on Monday afternoon, Dec. 15, it was reported. Fire Department sources said the fire started at around 3:10 p.m. on the first floor of the two-story structure in the vicinity of Schaefer Street and Knickerbocker Avenue. Members of Engine companies 218, 233, 271 and 277; Ladder companies 112, 124, 135 and 176; Squad companies 1 and 252; Rescue 2; and Battalions 28 and 37—under the direction of Division 11—responded to the scene along with the 83rd Precinct and EMS units. The injured man was transported to a local hospital by paramedics for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. According to FDNY sources, firefighters used two hose lines to bring the fire under control at around 3:40 p.m.
