N.Y. National Guard Members Are Promoted For Excellence

Several local members of the New York State Army National Guard have been promoted in recognition of their capabilities for additional responsibility and leadership.

As announced by Major Gen. Joseph J. Taluto, adjutant general for the state of New York, the members include the following:

• Frederick Miles of Astoria, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1, 69th Infantry, was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant;

• Doreen Carrano of Corona, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company 3, 142nd Aviation, was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant;

• Emanuel Sone of Astoria, serving with the 222nd Chemical Company, was promoted to the rank of private first class;

• Tracey Miller of Kew Gardens, serving with Joint Forces Headquarters, was promoted to the rank of sergeant first class;

• Sol Guillen of South Ozone Park, serving with the 222nd Chemical Company, was promoted to the rank of private;

• Jacqueline Concepcion of Long Island City, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company 369th Sustainment Brigade, was promoted to the rank of private first class;

• Denver Roopchansingh of South Richmond Hill, serving with Company B 642nd Support Battalion, was promoted to the rank of specialist;

• Jessica Jurj of Jackson Heights, serving with the 42nd Tactical Command Post Tactical 2, was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant; and,

• Andre Vines of Long Island City, serving with Company G (Forward Support Company—Field Artillery) 427th Brigade Support Battalion, was promoted to the rank of private first class.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential. It was noted that these promotions additionally recognize the best qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career with the guard.
