Waiver-Wire Wonders For The Final Run
Here are some waiver-wire wonders that may play a part in helping you win your fantasy football titles this week.
DAN ORLOVSKY (DET-QB): The Connecticut native acquitted himself well in his first start since Week 9 by giving Indianapolis a run for its money by completing 23 of 34 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown. Orlovsky's throws do tend to sail high and wide from time to time, but the 6'5" signal caller has a big enough arm to stretch the field and look deep for Calvin Johnson. Orlovsky is a sneaky-good start next week versus an injury-ravaged New Orleans defensive backfield.
LAMONT JORDAN (NE-RB): With revenge on his mind, the burly Jordan rumbled his way to 97 yards rushing on only 12 carries, including a 49-yard touchdown run. The oftinjured veteran could see 10 to 12 touches a game going forward with an equally fragile Sammy Morris as the number-one back and Kevin Faulk playing the role of the thirddown specialist.
The ex-Jet has a lot to prove as he tries to make up for lost time this season. Jordan has uncommon quickness for a bigger back.
P.J. POPE (DEN-RB): Pope was clearly the most effective Denver back this week as he rushed for 51 yards on seven carries along with three receptions for 24 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown catch. Pope will be sharing carries with Tatum Bell and Selvin Young, but in comparison with those two, Pope seems to be a tougher between-thetackles runner.
In addition, the Bowling Green product runs with impressive vision and displays good burst, although he's not known as much of a perimeter option.
JAMES JONES (GB-WR): After a promising rookie campaign, Jones has endured an injury-marred season. But for the first time this year, the 24-year-old wide out made his presence felt by gaining 132 yards on just four receptions this week. Jones did a good job of getting open along the sidelines as well as holding on the football after a crushing hit on one of his catches.
DENNIS NORTHCUTT (JAXWR): Northcutt made a grand impression in his first start of the season by pacing Jaguar receivers with five receptions for 127 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown grab. The elusive Northcutt also torched Green Bay's Al Harris on a deep pass play to set up the game-winning touchdown.
Look for the former Brown to be targeted quite often due to Jerry Porter's season ending injury and Matt Jones' three-game suspension.
CHRIS HENRY (CIN-WR): The underachieving Henry had a very promising showing this week by hauling in four catches for 54 yards. On one of those grabs, the 6'4" wide out badly beat Washington's Carlos Rogers on a 12-yard score.
Much like many other of his teammates, Henry is playing for his job and should be extra motivated to do well in the last two weeks of the regular season.
