Together To Protest Brooklyn Bias Attack
Local residents, community and civic activists and police officers gathered together last Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Bushwick street corner where an Ecuadorian immigrant was fatally beaten in the Dec. 7 assault currently under investigation as a hate crime, it was reported. As noted, the rally was held by City Council Member Diana Reyna along with Juventud Ecuatoriana, the Latin American Workers Project, ANSWER Coalition and other civic groups in memory of the victim, 30-year-old Jose Sucuzhanay, who died on Dec. 12. Among those on hand for the event, as shown, were members of the 83rd Precinct, including Det. Dennis Diaz of the Community Affairs Unit and P.O. John Swanson of the Crime Prevention Unit. At press time, no arrests have been made in connection with the bias attack.
