Bicyclist Critical After Being Struck Along Bushwick Ave.

Riding through a Bushwick intersection proved costly for a 68- year-old bicyclist who was struck and seriously injured by a car last Thursday morning, Dec. 18, police said.

The victim was reportedly transported to a local hospital with lifethreatening injuries.

According to law enforcement sources, the accident occurred at 9 a.m. last Thursday at the intersection of Bushwick and Myrtle avenues.

Police said the 68-year-old man was riding his bike southbound on Bushwick Avenue when he was struck by a car that was traveling northbound on the roadway.

Members of the 83rd Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units.

The victim was transported by paramedics to Woodhull Medical Center in serious condition after suffering head trauma.

Reportedly, the driver of the car, a 54-year-old man, remained at the scene following the accident. At press time, no charges have been filed against him.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the NYPD Accident Investigation Squad, police said.
