So. Ozone Pk. Man Killed In Backyard

Late-Night Shooting Probe Continues

Checking out a disturbance near his home proved to be a deadly decision for a South Ozone Park man who was found shot to death late last Sunday night, Dec. 21, it was reported.

The victim was identified by police as 46-year-old Keenan Drinks of 134th Street.

Law enforcement sources said the man was found fatally shot at around 11:55 p.m. in the rear of his home located near Linden Boulevard.

Moments before the shooting, according to information obtained by police, the victim heard a noise in the rear yard and went to investigate it.

Shortly after the shots were fired, police said, Drinks was discovered unconscious with gunshot wounds to his right cheek and left shoulder.

Members of the 106th Precinct responded along with EMS units, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for evidence as well as suspects connected with the shooting; despite their efforts, police said, no immediate arrests were made.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the 106th Precinct Detective Squad, law enforcement sources noted.
