ALL WET IN BASEMENT

(photos: Joseph Epstein)(photos: Joseph Epstein)Firefighters responding to an odor of fuel oil emanating from a vacant house in Maspeth on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25 reportedly found the basement flooded with up to five feet of water. According to Fire Department sources, the call came at around 11:45 a.m. in the vicinity of 58th Place and Maspeth Avenue. Members of Engine Company 291, Ladder Company 140, Haz-Mat 1, Battalion 28 and the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. Reportedly, it took firefighters up to 90 minutes to pump out the water and turn off service to the empty residence. No injuries were reported.
