Home Invaders Pay Couple A Visit
Masked intruders looking for loot forced their way into the apartment of an elderly couple on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border in Brooklyn during an apparent home invasion on Sunday morning, Dec. 28, police reported. The suspects behind the caper, described by law enforcement sources as a pair of Hispanic males wearing masks, remain at large as of press time Tuesday. According to authorities, the trouble began at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday on the second floor of an apartment house on DeKalb Avenue near Irving Avenue. Reportedly, the two suspects gained entry into the residence and confronted the couple, demanding cash from the victims. Moments later, police said, the invaders removed an undetermined amount of cash from the residence and fled from the scene in an unknown direction. Officers from the 83rd Precinct responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. Various police units conducted a search of the surrounding area for the crooks involved in the caper. Despite their efforts, it was noted, no immediate arrests were made. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the 83rd Precinct Robbery Apprehension Team and the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
