Emergency Repairs To Shut Borden Ave. Br. In L.I.C.

      Drivers who use the Borden Avenue Bridge to travel through Long Island City will have to find an alternate route in January as the crossing is scheduled to be shut down for several months due emergency repair work. The 100-year-old, two-lane span over the Dutch Kills is expected to be closed for several months in order for improvements to be made.

Driver Hospitalized With Injuries

      The driver of a sports utility vehicle that crashed and overturned along Union Turnpike in Forest Hills managed to escape from his damaged ride without serious injury, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 11 a.m. Sunday along the eastbound lanes of the roadway near 72nd Road.
