Fire Damages Home In Woodhaven

(photo: Allen Epstein) (photo: Allen Epstein) Smoke and flames woke up residents at a home on 79th Street and 85th Drive in Woodhaven that caught fire on New Year's Eve morning last Wednesday, Dec. 31, it was reported. Fire Department sources said the blaze occurred at around 6 a.m. in the rear of the residence's second floor. Members of Engine companies 236, 285, 293 and 332; Ladder companies 133, 142, 151 and 175; Squad Company 270; Rescue 4 and Battalions 39 and 51 responded to the scene. Officers from the 102nd Precinct and EMS units also arrived at the location. No injuries were reported. Using two hose lines, FDNY sources said, the fire was brought under control at around 6:30 a.m.
