Fireman Hurt Fighting Blaze At Astoria Home

(photo: Allen Epstein)(photo: Allen Epstein)A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a one-alarm blaze at an Astoria home last Friday morning, Jan. 2, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the fire started at around 11 a.m. in the rear of the second floor of the three-story structure on 47th Street near 31st Avenue. On the scene were members of Engine companies 260, 262, 292, 312 and 325; Ladder companies 116, 117, 136 and 163; Squad Company 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 45 and 49, under the direction of Division 14, along with the 114th Precinct and EMS units. Using two hose lines, an FDNY spokesperson said, the blaze was brought under control at around 11:35 a.m.
