Wanted For Ridgewood Robbery
The suspect pictured in this surveillance camera image is being sought by police in connection with an active pattern of bank robberies, including a recent heist in Ridgewood. Law enforcement sources said the crook is wanted in connection with seven holdups throughout Queens and Manhattan between June 27, 2008 and Jan. 16. Among the locations robbed, authorities noted, was the Chase bank located at 60-67 Myrtle Ave. in Ridgewood at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, in the confines of the 104th Precinct. Police described the suspect as a 40- year-old African-American male standing between 6'2" and 6'4" tall with a large build. Driver Nabbed After High-Speed Crash
The motorist involved in a high-speed collision along Woodhaven Boulevard last Saturday, Jan. 31 that injured a passenger was arrested by police while allegedly trying to flee the scene, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the crash occurred at around 2:25 p.m. along the southbound lanes of the boulevard near 67th Avenue on the Rego Park/Middle Village border. Reportedly, the male suspect—whose identity was not disclosed—was behind the wheel of a sedan that was traveling at a high rate of speed and slammed into a nearby tree. Following the collision, FDNY sources noted, the driver managed to escape the damaged vehicle, leaving a passenger pinned. Members of Engine Company 319, Ladder Company 151, Rescue 4, Battalion 46, the 104th Precinct and EMS units. Officers from the precinct apprehended the suspect and took him into custody a short distance from the crime scene, it was noted. The passenger was freed from the wrecked vehicle and taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center with injuries that were not considered lifethreatening, an FDNY spokesperson said.
