Fireman Injured In Two-Alarm Corona Blaze


One firefighter was hospitalized after briefly becoming trapped inside a burning home in Corona during a two-alarm fire last Friday night, Jan. 30. According to Fire Department sources, the blaze broke out at around 9 p.m. inside the basement of a one-family house on 103rd Street near 52nd Avenue. Members of Engine companies 72, 258, 262, 287, 292, 305, 307 and 319; Ladder companies 128, 135, 136, 140, 150 and 151; Rescue 4; Squad Company 288; Satellite 2; and Battalions 3, 46, 49 and 50—under the direction of Division 13—responded to the scene along with the 110th Precinct and EMS units. Reportedly, several firefighters became briefly trapped in the cellar before being removed by other units. The injured firefighter was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center with injuries not considered lifethreatening, an FDNY spokesperson said.
