Maspeth Honors American Heroes

(photo: Allen Epstein)The United Veterans & Fraternal Organizations of Maspeth (UVFOM) held its annual Candlelight Ceremony to honor American servicemen and women on Monday, May 18 at Maspeth Memorial Park. About 60 people attended the vigil, including the St. Stanislaus Kostka Girl Scouts Troop 4111, shown above with veterans from American Legion Post #783 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 32. Also shown are Kenneth Rudzewick, president of Maspeth Federal Savings Bank; Carole Stines, Chairperson of UVFOM; guest speaker John McHugh, a veteran of World War II; Rev. Avelio De Leon, pastor of Maspeth United Methodist Church; and James Wise.
