     Taking Care Of Their Park City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley, Juniper Park Civic Association member Robert Doocey and 60 kids came together on Saturday, May 16 in Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village to make a difference, joining the citywide celebration of "It's My Park Day!" Shown above, Crowley and volunteers posed for a photo after raking, weeding, planting daffofils and performing a general clean-up of the park.

     Vallone Strikes A Pose Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr. joined hundreds of local residents at Astoria Park for its annual clean-up and appreciation day on Saturday, May 16. Various wellness, fitness and clean-up groups gathered on for "It's My Park Day," an event co-sponsored by the City Parks Foundation and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation meant to encourage clean parks and healthy living.      St. Brigid Books Clifford Appearance St. Brigid School hosted a Scholastic Book Fair to foster literacy and raise funds for the school, it was reported, and received a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog. The fair, chaired by Maria Carpio and Elena Reyes, raised over $900, as well as hundreds of dollars in merchandise for the school library, according to staff.      Took Audience Down Yellow Brick Rd. Holy Child Jesus School in Richmond Hill staged a performance of The Wizard of Oz last Monday and Tuesday, May 18-19 under the direction of fourth grade teacher Helen Secreti and featuring students from grades Pre-K to eight. Shown above, Secreti is front and center with her cast, which included Victoria Matos, Christin Colon, Pallavi Kaushik, Mac Gillooley, Declan Kearns, Fiona Kearns, Dominic Scicutella, Jacob Kurpis, Gunnar Johansson, Matthew Verderber, Emil Borzdynski, Sean Flanagan, Jacob Lascano and others. Secreti got key help from Principal Martin Abruzzo, teacher Steve Pulick and many parents.

FH Volunteers Reach Out
     FH Volunteers Reach Out The Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps (FHVAC) opened it's doors to the community (shown at bottom) on May 17 to demonstrate their duties to residents and raised over $900 as part of their participation in National EMS Week. Danced To Remember
     Danced To Remember Eighth graders from Sacred Heart School celebrated their coming graduation and remembered the great times they had during their years at the Glendale school with a Senior Dance held last Wednesday, May 20 at the Douglaston Manor. Twenty-six teachers attended, as well as many parents, who were invited to join their children for the first dance of the night. Shown above, some of the eighth graders posed for a photograph.
