+++ IDA D'AVANZO died on June 6, 2009 at the age of 87. She was the widow of the late Patsy, devoted mother of Rosemarie Christopher, Francis De Gregorio and Jerry D'Avanzo; also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Margaret's Church followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ LORENZO FERMIN died on June 5, 2009 at the age of 59. He was the beloved husband of Luz and devoted father of Jacqueline. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church followed by interment in All Faiths Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ MARY FRANCINE PUCCIO died on June 1, 2009 at the age of 64. She was the devoted mother of Laura Puccio. Services were held at the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory.

+++ ALEXANDER E. SELENOW died on June 4, 2009 at the age of 58. She was the dear brother of Loranna Grimm. Servies were held at the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, followed by interment in Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery in upstate Jordanville.

+++ FRANK CARAVELLO died on May 29, 2009 at the age of 95. He was the devoted father of Jacqueline Mancuso. Services were held at the Hess- Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery.

+++ MARIANNA NICOSIA died on May 27, 2009 at the age of 77. She was the fond aunt of Francesca Marceca. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church followed by entombment in St. John's Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ ALLAN A. SANDFORD died on June 3, 2009 at the age of 70. A native of Panama, he was the beloved husband of Carmen, devoted father of Lesley, Jeff (both of Brooklyn) and the late Allan Jr., dear brother of Victor or Millstone Township, New Jersey and Cirilo of Brandon, Florida, brother-in-law of Jorge Pinilla of Queens, and fond granfather of Allan III, Kayla, Amanda, Jessica, Ethan and Erika; also survived by nephew Edward and niece Sara. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and a champion bicyclist in his native Panama. Interment was at the Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village.

+++ HELEN C. HOELL died on June 7, 2009 at the age of 88. Formerly of Maspeth, she was the beloved husband of William, devoted mother of William, Thomas, Peter, Susan, Catherine, John, Mary and Christopher; also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. +++ MAUREEN CRAIG of Glendale died on June 5, 2009 at the age of 87. A native of Ireland, she was the widow of the late James, devoted mother of Mary, Bernardine, Pauline, Aileen, Martin and the late Malcolm; also survived by 12 grandchildren. She was the widow of the late Pascual, devoted mother of George Prieto and Marie LaRosa, stepmother of Pascual Jr. amd John, dear sister of Selena, Effihania and Eduardo, and fond grandmother of George, Christopher, Julia, Joseph and Michael. She was the beloved daughter of Peter Consalazio and the late Lucy, devoted mother of Monique Stouber and mother-in-law of Eric, dear sister of Anthony Consalazio and sister-in-law of Barbara, and fond grandmother of Michael. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of Hope Church followed by interment in All Faiths Cemetery under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.

+++ CATHERINE JARRES died on June 5, 2009 at the age of 90. A Glendale native who attended St. Pancras School, she was the beloved mother of Barbara Velie and William A. Jarres, dear sister of Madeline Kuefner, and fond grandmother of Nancy, Michael, Lisa, Robert (all Velie), Amanda, Russell and Eric (all Jarres). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pancras Church today, June 11 at 9:30 a.m., to be followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery under the direction of the Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale.
