+++ IDA D'AVANZO died on June 6, 2009 at the age of 87. She was the widow of the late Patsy, devoted mother of Rosemarie Christopher, Francis De Gregorio and Jerry D'Avanzo; also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. SANDFORD died on June 3, 2009 at the age of 70. A native of Panama, he was the beloved husband of Carmen, devoted father of Lesley, Jeff (both of Brooklyn) and the late Allan Jr., dear brother of Victor or Millstone Township, New Jersey and Cirilo of Brandon, Florida, brother-in-law of Jorge Pinilla of Queens, and fond granfather of Allan III, Kayla, Amanda, Jessica, Ethan and Erika; also survived by nephew Edward and niece Sara. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and a champion bicyclist in his native Panama. Interment was at the Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of the Hess-Miller Funeral Home, 64-19 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village. +++ LILOWATIE PERSAUD died on June 1, 2009 at the age of 69. Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of Hope Church followed by interment in All Faiths Cemetery under the direction of the Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth. +++ CATHERINE JARRES died on June 5, 2009 at the age of 90. A Glendale native who attended St. Pancras School, she was the beloved mother of Barbara Velie and William A. Jarres, dear sister of Madeline Kuefner, and fond grandmother of Nancy, Michael, Lisa, Robert (all Velie), Amanda, Russell and Eric (all Jarres). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pancras Church today, June 11 at 9:30 a.m., to be followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery under the direction of the Schwille Funeral Home, 66-32 Myrtle Avenue, Glendale.
