      Fare Increase Takes Effect Sun., June 28 Fares for rides on MTA New York City Transit's buses and subways and on bus lines operated by the MTA Bus Company will increase this Sunday, June 28, it was announced. The base fare for subway and local buses will increase from $2 to $2.25. Reduced fares will be raised to $1.10 per ride.
