TENANTS LEFT HOMELESS AFTER BUSHWICK BLAZE
Several families in Bushwick were displaced after their homes were damaged during a one-alarm fire that broke out inside a store below their apartments early Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the blaze started at 2:35 a.m. inside the first-floor shop located in the vicinity of Wilson Avenue and Harman Street. Reportedly, the flames spread from the store to apartments above it on the second and third floors of the structure. Responding to the scene were members of Engine companies 206, 218, 237, 271 and 277; Ladder companies 102, 108, 111, 112, 119 and 140; Squad Co. 252; Rescue 2; Battalions 28 and 37; Division 11; the 83rd Precinct and EMS units. Two people were treated for minor injuries. The displaced residents were provided with assistance by the American Red Cross of Greater New York.
