Hornets Continue Run Of Shutouts

Beat Blessed Trinity 5-0 On Cold Day

A cold and dreary afternoon could not damper the bright smiling faces of the Our Lady of Hope 8th grade girl’s soccer players, as the Middle Village squad continued its winning streak on Sunday, Oct. 18 and posted yet another shutout.

The girls played against Blessed Trinity at Brennan Field and even with the wind against their backs and only one sub, they continued their domination.

During the first half of play, the girl’s offensive line dominated and had many shots on goal. Danielle Sheridan was able to get her first goal of the season for the opening goal of the game and thus leading the way for Lauren Viggiano to add another before the half was over.

During the second half, the girls again moved the ball around well, even against the wind. The defensive line held strong and Sweeper Rebecca Wagner was spot on, with some timely passes to the front line. By the time the game was over, Lauren added another goal to her stats and Francesca Giglio added two more goals, for a win of 5 to 0.

The Hope Hornets’ next game is on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12:45 p.m. at Tilden 2 against St. Francis DeSales. The girls invite wellwishers to come by and show some support.
