Raised Funds To Raise Roof At Onderdonk House
The Greater Ridgewood Historical Society (GRHS) hosted a celebration and fund-raiser in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Vander Ende- Onderdonk House on Friday, Oct. 23. The event drew over 250 guests, who turned out to raise funds to put a new roof on the three-century old building located at Flushing and Onderdonk avenues near the Brooklyn/Queens border in Ridgewood. As shown in right photo, Mayor Michael Bloomberg presided over the affair, helping to honor Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan and Ridgewood resident and civic activist Paul Kerzner for their dedication to preserving the historic structure. Shown in left photo, Kerzner (fourth from left) and Nolan (fifth from left) displayed their plaques along with (from left to right) City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley; Hugo Gajus Scheltema, Netherlands Consulate General; GRHS President Linda Monte, Assemblywoman Margaret Markey, City Council Member Diana Reyna and Assemblyman Mike Miller.
