Firemen Injured After Trucks Collide
Two firetrucks en route to a gas leak reportedly collided with each other at high speed at an East New York intersection last Saturday morning, Oct. 24, leaving 12 firefighters injured. Fire Department sources said the accident occurred at 9:40 a.m., when the trucks of Engine Co. 236 and Ladder Co. 107 crashed at the intersection of Ashford Street and Hegeman Avenue. The impact of the collision reportedly caused Ladder 107’s truck to overturn. Firefighers from Engine companies 225, 231, 290 and 332; Ladder companies 103, 120 and 175; Squad Co. 252; Rescues 2 and 4; and Battalions 39 and 44—under the direction of Division 15—responded to the scene along with the NYPD Highway Patrol and Emergency Services units and EMS units.
