GAS LEAK LEADS TO FLUSHING EXPLOSION


Propane released from a tank near a Flushing home reportedly triggered a blast that blew the walls off the structure and injured two people, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the explosion occurred at 7:45 p.m. at a three-story home in the vicinity of 32nd Avenue and Leavitt Street. More than 20 Fire Department units responded to the scene along with officers from the 109th Precinct, members of the Office of Emergency Management and EMS units. One of the victims found in the debris was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, while the other was rushed to the Cornell Burn Unit of New York-Presbyterian Hospital with burns to the face and arms.
