All Abuzz About Hope Hornets
Put The Sting To St. Francis DeSales
It was another incredible weekend for the eighth grade girls’ soccer team from Our Lady of Hope, as they were slated to play the only other undefeated team in the league. It was another cold, windy, rainy day in Breezy Point where the Hope Hornets met St. Francis DeSales for their first match up of the season. Both teams were battling the wind, struggling to maintain possession. Hope broke the stalemate late in the first off a free kick by Francesca Giglio, who added another shortly after to end the half 2-0. In the second half, the wind continued its onslaught as did the Hornets. The girls settled down and began to move the ball on the ground, netting four more goals by Nikki Morales, Lauren Viggiano, Olivia McFadden and Francesca Giglio. Hope’s goalkeeping and defense proved itself worthy of yet another shutout. The Hornets last regular season game is on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. at Flushing Grass against St. Margaret’s.
