Gottschee Sides See League, State Cup & Academy Action

U12A & U12 Celtic Play Well To Advance
Over the past two weekends, Gottschee teams saw action in the State Cup, Academy exhibition games and league play.

BW Gottschee U9 BW Gottschee U9 Both U12 teams won third round games in the New York State Cup competition, while the Academy teams played exhibition games against the New Jersey Soccer Academy and Oakwood, while the younger teams, playing in league competition did quite well.

State Cup results In State Cup action, the U12A played Port Washington in the third round. Gottschee gave a solid performance defeating Port Washington 4-1. Connor Mathers gave Gottschee a 1-0 halftime lead on a 13-yard shot. Mathers doubled the score with a sec- ond goal four minutes into the second half. Dan Corridan and Niko Baric made it 4-0 before Port Washington pulled one back five minutes from the end.

Meanwhile, in an exceptionally well played game, the U12 Celtic defeated a strong Dix Hills team 3-0 in their third round state cup tie. Tim Weah got things going for Gottschee with an 18-yard rocket that went under the crossbar to give Gottschee the 1-0 half time lead. Five minutes into the second half Jonathan Arias’s corner was tapped in to make it 2-0. And 12 minutes from time Omir Fernandez dribbled past three defenders a la Maradona for the final goal. Gottschee’s skills, technique and quick movement of the ball was too much for the bigger, faster and more athletic Dix Hills team.

Under 8 results

In a well played match, Gottschee U8A shutout Gjoa 3-0 on goals by Mat Oseicki, Dan Curoni and Jason Lee.

The U8B took on Brooklyn Italians and managed a tie in their first game with Mat Rubenstein scoring the tying goal for Blau Weiss. In their second game against Staten Island United, Gottschee took a 2-0 lead at half time with goals from Mat Rubenstein and Enzo LaSala. In the 2nd half, Staten Island tied it up with 2 quick goals but Ed Wojnarowski scored the game’s winning goal 10 minutes to the end.

The U8C defeated Brooklyn Italians 7-2 with goals by Steve Rosizzi, Shai Azoulay, Jason Paravatos and Jack McGlynn.

Two weeks ago, an extremely young but energetic U8D team played well in losing to the Kosmos 4-0. In the second game played last weekend, they lost to fellow club team, Gottschee U8C, 7-1.

Under 9 results

In game one the U9A made light work of Asphalt Green winning 9-0. In the second game, they defeated Atletico De Bronx 8-0.

The U9B were outplayed by the Brooklyn Patriots 5-1 with Tom Krieblecz scoring the lone goal for Gottschee. In the second game Tom Krieblecz turned it up a notch scoring a hat trick as Gottschee turned the tables on Silver Lake Academy winning 6-1. Dan Vilardi scored twice and Marko Mladenovic once.

Under 11 results

The U10A playing up, took on and defeated the Gjoa U11A 2-0. Carlo Ritaccio scored in the first half and Demo Demopoalos added the insurance goal in the 2nd half. In game 2 the U10A won 6-0 to Istria on a hat trick by Dan Zvi, with individual goals from Elvin Lekperic and Matt Ritaccio and an own goal.

The U11A outmatched Brooklyn Patriots winning 10-1. In the 2nd game, the U11A were outplayed by Silver Lake Adriatic losing 5-1 with Galib Derisevic scoring the lone goal for Gottschee.

Academy exhibition

In an exhibition game versus the New Jersey Soccer Academy, the U14 played to a 2-2 tie. Scoreless at the break, New Jersey opened the scoring with two quick goals in the second half. The first came courtesy of a penalty kick, and the second of a direct kick. Anthony Viteri made it 2- 1 midway through the second half on a direct kick and Jesus Sanmartin’s header five minutes to regulation time gave Gottschee the equalizer. In the second game this time against Oakwood, Gottschee led at the half 1-0 courtesy of a Viteri’s 35 yard direct shot. In the second half, Jesus Sanmartin scored from the left and Bradley Nestor’s breakaway goal gave Gottschee a winning score of 3- 0.

U16 Academy

The U16, also playing exhibition ball, lost to New Jersey Academy 2- 1. At the half New Jersey led 1-0. But seven minutes into the second half Alex Fernandez tied the game but eight minutes later New Jersey’s game winner came on a PK.

Meanwhile, the U18 Academy defeated New Jersey Soccer Academy 3-1 in their exhibition tie. In the first half the U18 scored twice—first on Dan Herrrera’s direct kick 11 minutes into the game and later Greg Davis’ chip shot over the keeper in the 21st minute. In the second half, Mario Gagliano scored midway on a through ball from Justin Ogden. New Jersey pulled one back 5 minutes to the end.

Girls U10 results

In the first game Gottschee took the early lead 1-0 only to surrender three second half goals. And that’s how it ended, 3-2. Clarie Iriate scored both goals for Gottschee. In a return match away in Staten Island the U10 defeated Alliance 6-2. Claire Iriate scoring four times and Eliz Zhivanaj twice.

Girls U11 results

In the first game, Gottschee made light work of Gjoa 7-2. Maria Cabrera scored four times; Diana Paravatos twice and Medina Mulic once. In the second game, GU11 traveled to Rockaway and easily won by a score of 6-1. Medina Mulic and Maia Cabrera scored 2 goals each in the first half to put Gottschee up 4-1. Julianna Lignowski and newcomer Dora Lombardozzi added one each in the second half to account for all the scoring.

Girls U12 results

The U12 defeated the Kosmos 4- 2. Monica Zhivanaj scored twice while Francesca Simone and Kaitlyn McGee added one each. In the last 10 minutes of the game, Kosmos scored twice.
