Blue and White faced off for the first time in the first game of Week 3 in the Queens Falcons Run To Daylight Football League.

White received the opening kickoff and drove over 60 yards down the field to open up the scoring with an 8-0 lead. The drive was led by two reverses ran by wide receiver #23 Kelli Benson.

Blue answered right back with a nine play scoring drive capped off by a touchdown pass from #11 Jorgo Gjoni to #84 Emir Drazhi and a two point conversion run by #40 Nick Ermendi.

White team’s next drive was stalled on downs as the Blue team was not tricked again on the reverse play. Blue’s next drive ended on an Interception by #23 Kelli Benson. White again was unable to produce points. The Blue team got the ball back with about a minute left in the first half and decided to go no huddle. On the first play Blue QB #11 Jorgo Gjoni connected with #84 Emir Drazhi for a 60 yard touchdown to give the Blue team the lead going into halftime.

In the second half the Blue team’s running backs took over the game, as #22 Corey Stokes (11-72), #32 Ja’lin Smith (4-76) and Brandon Almodovar (3-22) each scored second half touchdowns. #68 Chris Kotsis and #69 were beasts on the defensive line, combining for five tackles for a loss of 31 yards.

Final score Blue 40-White 8.

Green took on Gold in the second game. The Green team spread the ball out successfully as six different players ran the ball on Saturday, led by #21 Abdul Kircher (5-65) and #52 Hussain Moamen (6-32). The Gold team was led defensively by the tough play of #28 Douglas Shoemaker.

Two first half touchdowns by Green gave them the lead going into halftime but, it was Green’s defense that sealed the fate for Gold. Two fourth quarter sacks by #56 Michael Simone and an interception by Ellis Intriago off of Gold’s #13 Ryan Roderiguez’s pass took away any chance of a comeback. Boris Caraballo continued to run hard for his Gold as he had 15 carries for 60 yards.

Final score Green 20- Gold 0.

Position week this week means two rematches from Week 2, as first place Green (3-0) and second place Blue (2-1) face off Saturday at 11 a.m. The second game pits White team (0-3) against Gold (1-2).
