An apparent dispute between two men inside a Bushwick apartment last Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 17, came to a bloody end as one of the brawlers stabbed and bludgeoned his rival to death, law enforcement sources reported. Police sources stated that 24-yearold Jerome Paul of Madison Street allegedly killed 43-year-old William Ashley during a fight inside the victim’s Schaefer Street apartment last Wednesday afternoon. Members of the 83rd Precinct were called to the home on Schaefer Street near Central Avenue at around 5:10 p.m. after receiving a 911 call regarding a male stabbed at the location. Upon their arrival, law enforcement sources stated, the officers observed Paul beating Ashley about the body. Emergency medical technicians were called to the scene and transported Ashley to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Following a preliminary investigation by the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad, Paul was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police sources said. According to a spokesperson for Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, the suspect was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court and ordered held without bail.
