Crook Hit Glendale Bank Three Times

The suspect (shown at right) sought for a pair of recent bank heists in Forest Hills and Jamaica is also wanted for holding up the same Glendale bank branch on three occasions last year, police reported.

Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator—described as an African- American male with a medium build between 30 and 35 years of age standing at 5’7” tall and weighing about 170 pounds—is allegedly responsible for eight robberies within the confines of the 102nd, 104th, 107th and 112th precincts since June 2009.

Reportedly, the crook held up the Capital One branch located at 83-24 Woodhaven Blvd. in Glendale three times between June and November of last year. After leaving the bank emptyhanded on his third-visit on the morning of Nov. 13, police said, the bandit successfully swiped cash moments later from the Valley National Bank located at 69-20 80th St. in Middle Village.

Most recently, law enforcement sources noted, the perpetrator robbed a Sovereign Bank at 150-28 Union Tpke. in Jamaica as well as an Apple Bank at 102-29 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 17.

In each caper, authorities said, the thief entered the branch during morning hours and passed a note to a teller demanding cash. No injuries were reported in each incident.

Police said the first robbery in the pattern occurred on the morning of Tuesday, June 2, when the crook held up the Capital One bank in Glendale at around 9 a.m. Three days later, the bandit visited the Chase bank located at 96- 01 101st Ave. in Ozone Park at around 9:50 a.m. on Friday, June 5.

The crook reportedly returned to the Capital One branch in Glendale at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.

Following a five-month hiatus, police said, the suspect came back to the Glendale Capital One bank at around 10:40 a.m. on Friday morning, Nov. 13. After being unable to obtain cash, authorities said, he fled and headed to the Valley National Bank in Middle Village, successfully swiping cash from the location at about 11:05 a.m. that morning.

Several weeks later, authorities noted the bandit surfaced at the New York Commercial and located at 97-77 Queens Blvd. on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 3, holding up the branch at around 9:20 a.m.
