Sides Advance To Of Soccer Cup

U9 And U10A Lead Barrage Of Goals

Four Gottschee teams made it to the Sweet-16 Round of the US Club Soccer Cup, scoring plenty of goals to get there.

The U9 played Dix Hills and Commack at the Bethpage Polo Grounds on Saturday afternoon, Mar. 27. BWG moved the ball well and was able to take the games with scores of 9-0 and 6-0, respectively.

The U10A made light work of Auburndale SC and Northport/Cowharbor 9-1 and 9-0 respectively. The U11 Celtic easily defeated East Fishkill 5-0 and NY Elite.

On Sunday, Mar. 28 the girls U11 began with a 2-2 tie against Northport and finished off with a convincing 5-1 win over Garden City to qualify for the round of 16 in late April.

Medina Mulic dominated the field and was the team’s most outstanding player throughout the weekend.

The U10B suffered a disappointing 4-3 lost to Chelsea Piers after taking a commanding 3-1 half time lead on two goals by Demos Damopoulos and one from Flavio Anjo.

U-16 results

In a well-played game, Gottschee U16 played to a 1-1 tie with a DUSC U17 team in the CJSL. DUSC went up 1-0 on a penalty kick but Dylan Cope got the equalizer 5 minutes to the break.

U-15 results BW Gottschee U15A lost on an own goal to Brooklyn Italians in the 1st round of the State Cup. Despite numerous chances, Gottschee failed to get the equalizer and lost 0-1.

In an all Gottschee affair the U15A defeated the U15B in a CJSL game 6-0. A hat trick by Frederico Corbello and single tallies from Cologero Curcuru, Simeon Yanev and Alejandro Fernandez sealed the shutout.

U-12 results

In closely fought game, Gottschee fell to DUSC 0-2.

U-11 results

The boys 11A started their weekend over at Dusc, Pier 40, where they controlled from the first whistle to the last. The final score was 7-0 in a well-played game by Gottschee.

On Sunday, in the NY Cup the boys played Garden City and lost 4- 0. The second game the boys had an extra spring in their step and beat Yonkers United 3-1 with a hat trick by Nicholas Karkut and good all around play.

The U11 Celtic defeated a FC Westchester U12 team 4-0.

U-10 results

In an evenly-matched game, CDC X1 scored two quick goals in the 2nd half to defeat Gottschee 2-0.

U-9 results The U9A, playing up in the U- 10A CJSL division, faced a strong Brooklyn Italians team. BWG was down 1-0 at the fifteen minute mark, but was able to tie the game before the end of the half.

BWG took the lead with 15 minutes left in the game, but some mental lapses allowed Brooklyn Italians to score 2 goals with 10 minutes left in the game. A tough 3-2 loss for BWG.

The U9B managed a 1-1 tie with the Brooklyn Italians. Marco Mladenovic gave Gottschee a 1-0 half time lead but Brooklyn Italians responded with the equalizer in the second half.

U8 results

The U8A squad defeated the Gottschee U8B squad 5-1. (2)two goals by Jeremy Saravia, (2)two by Mathew Osiecki and a single tally by Lucas Gonclaves sealed the victory. A tough Gottschee defense kept the U8B off the board except for that single goal. Kudos goes to Jason Lee for a superb performance attacking from the back and setting up some great opportunities.

Later that afternoon Gottschee took on a much bigger U9 New York Hota team in the U9 NY Club State Cup. They fell 7-1 but impressed many with their ball control and possession. The Gottschee coaches were really impressed with the kids performance. Hota defeated Gottschee on its speed and long ball game play.

On Sunday, Gottschee played its final game in the U9 NY Club State Cup and defeated a U9 Syosset squad 4-1, individual goals by Jeremy Saravia, Ramo Lukovic, Daniel Curmi and Justin Silva road Gottschee to the victory.

The U8C lost to Brooklyn Italians Juventus 6-0. Brooklyn Italians U8A team’s size was just too much for the very skilled Gottschee U7’s.

The young 8D held Islas Malvinas to a 2-2 tie in the first half on goals by Andre Elias and Shai Azoulay. But Islas Malvinas scored three unanswered goals in the 2nd half to win it 5-2.

Girls U-14 results

The U14G played on Saturday their first seasonal game against Lindenhurst Extreme a very physical team and lost 4 to 2. The girls started their first half with not much force and the Lindenhurst Extreme scored 2 goals; their second half Gottschee came back in full force and managed to score 2 goals but Lindenhurst came thru with two additional goals. Goals scored by Francesca Giglio andTori Antonino.

On Sunday, they were back on field at noon to prepare for their first State Cup game against Albertson 95 Fury, one of Long Island top teams, and unfortunately they lost 7 to 0.

The girls were physically drained from their Saturday evening game that they could not give 100 percent on the field against this strong team.

Girls U12 results

Gottschee played Plainview/Old Bethpage in a LIJL game and lost 0- 3. Bethpage were deserved winners, repeatedly taking advantage of their scoring chances.

Girls U11 results

The GU11 opened their LIJSL season on Saturday with a 3-1 win over North Shore Fury. The scoring came from Isabelle Montesinos and Maia Cabrera (2).

Girls U10 results

The girls U10 lost on Saturday in their first game in the LIJSL to South Merrick Lady Cyclones—the score was 4-0. And on Sunday the GU-10 Academy participated in the NY Cup. The first game was against Garden City Park Sabres.

A fairly even first half ended 0-0, but in the second both teams had chances but Garden City Park was able to put theirs away and go on to win 2-0.

The second game against Sound Beach Sharks, Gottschee started well with a 1-0 lead but the Sharks came back and outscored the girls with 5 unanswered goals. The final score was 5-1.
