A Day To Remember Fallen Heroes
A Day To Remember Fallen Heroes NYPD held a memorial service to honor fallen officers on Saturday, May 8 at Police Arlington in Cypress Hills Cemetery, located on the border of Brooklyn and Queens. A crowd of 200 came out to remember officers who died in the line of duty and were buried at the site. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the audience that “it is our duty to remember those heroes and all police officers buried here”; Kelly is shown in top photo alongside an officer (at far left) dressed in the uniform of the Metropolitan Police, a predecessor force to the NYPD. As shown in bottom photo, a group of officers listened on. After many years of disrepair, the police cemetery has been brought back into shape by a group of volunteers, who have volunteered countless hours and hardearned dollars in keeping up the site.
